Awareness Session on International Day Against Drug Abuse

Following the visionary leadership of our esteemed Chairman, Dr. A.F. Pinto, an impactful awareness session was organized at Ryan International School, Kulai, Mangalore for students of classes 8 and 9. Officers from Indian Coast Guard ships (ICGS) Vikram – Deputy Commandant K. Sarangi, Adhikari Naik Vijay Kumar, Pradhan Naik Sanoj, Naik Chandu, and Naik Rahul – interacted with students, sharing valuable insights on the harmful effects of drug abuse.

The session covered:

• Types of drugs (legal and illegal) and causes of addiction such as peer pressure, curiosity, and depression
• Stages of drug use, from experimentation to dependency
• Effects on mental health, social life, and society
• The 5 C’s of addiction – Chronic disease, Craving, Compulsive use, Continued use, and Loss of control

Students were encouraged to say NO to drugs, raise awareness through campaigns and social media, and lead a balanced, healthy lifestyle with strong willpower and emotional support.
