“Weaving Dreams, Preserving Heritage”
As part of their experiential learning initiative, Ryan International School, Bannerghatta organized an Educational Internship Visit to a Handloom Factory for the students of Grades 9 and 10. The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to India’s rich textile heritage and to understand the intricate process of handloom weaving — a craft deeply rooted in the nation’s culture and economy.
During the visit, students observed various stages of fabric production, including yarn spinning, dyeing, weaving, and finishing. Skilled artisans demonstrated how traditional looms are operated manually to produce beautiful fabrics with unique patterns and textures. The students were fascinated to see how creativity and precision come together in every weave.
The experts at the factory also interacted with the students, explaining the importance of sustainable and eco-friendly textile production and how the handloom industry supports rural livelihoods. This interaction gave students a deeper appreciation for indigenous craftsmanship and the value of preserving traditional skills in a modern world.
The visit was a truly enriching experience that connected classroom learning with real-world applications. It fostered curiosity, respect for craftsmanship, and awareness about India’s cultural and economic diversity.
